Tour 1 and 2
We will start with a city tour through Arucas. Then, we will continue to Gáldar, this city had a relevant importance before the arrival of the Spaniards in 1483 as it was one of the largest aboriginal centres of population and the residence of The Guanartemes (Monarchs) and the last king of the Canaries, Tenesor Semidán. There is no better place than this to understand the way of life of the aborigines and the social development that took place after the conquest.
Later, we will continue to visit to the impressive Cenobio de Valerón. This archaeological site consists of about 300 caves carved in the rock, is the most spectacular and largest pre-Hispanic barn in Gran Canaria.
Then, we will go back to Galdar to visit The Painted Cave Museum and Archaeological Site. The tour includes a walk through the troglodyte ruins, from where you can directly observe the excavated chambers and The Painted Cave. In the museum there are a large number of archaeological materials recovered from the different excavation campaigns.
At 15:00 and after having lunch, we will set off to the Valley of Agaet. In our way, we will have the opportunnity to observe The Maipés Archaeological Park and if the visitor wants we can access to it, one of the largest aboriginal necropolis of the island, where archeologists have found more than 600 burial mounds.
We will go up to the Mirador del Valle, if the conditions are optimal, where you can have stunning views of this magnificent place and a parallel vision of Las Cumbres de Tamadaba.
Next, we will visit the plantation and winery, to take a guided tour through the coffee and tropical fruits plantation and the wine cellar. It is the only coffee plantation in Europe and one of the most awarded wineries in the Canaries.
Our last stop will be at the village where we will have the opportunity to visit the Chapel of the Conception dating from 1984 and the Agaete fishing port, where people still mantain the traditional ways of fishing and where we can get lost looking at the clear and clean waters, La Playa de Las Nieves and the natural pools.
